Salesforce, the US software giant, has chosen London for its inaugural AI center, selecting the capital over other European cities to showcase its latest tech innovations. This move is part of Salesforce’s $4 billion investment plans for the UK, with the new center in Southwark set to foster collaboration among industry experts, partners, and customers, while offering critical upskilling opportunities.

Zahra Bahrololoumi, CEO of Salesforce UK, emphasized the UK’s growth potential in the AI sector, stating, “The UK is the third largest AI market in the world, and we see lots of growth potential with incredible demand from customers.” By establishing its first AI center in London, Salesforce signals a strong commitment to its customers and partners, aiming to harness AI’s transformative power responsibly.

Salesforce joins other US tech giants expanding their AI presence in London. Last year, OpenAI opened its first office outside the US in the capital, while Microsoft unveiled a major AI hub in Paddington, and Meta continues to hire AI scientists for its Kings Cross office.

New research by London & Partners found that 77% of international business leaders in the AI sector view London as more supportive of AI development than other leading AI hubs. Key advantages cited include supportive government incentives and policies tailored for AI development (45%) and access to international markets and global business opportunities (44%).

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, highlighted the city’s growing importance in the AI sector, saying, “London is a world-leading center for technology and talent, and fast becoming one of the most important centers for AI businesses globally. These AI hubs will bring industry experts together to innovate and collaborate, providing major opportunities for Londoners to access the jobs and opportunities of the future.”
