UBS Asset Management Launches First Tokenized Money Market Fund on Ethereum
UBS Asset Management has introduced its first tokenized investment fund, the “UBS USD Money Market Investment Fund Token” (“uMINT”), built on Ethereum’s distributed ledger technology. This innovative Money Market fund will be available through authorized distribution partners, offering tokenholders access to UBS’s institutional-grade cash management solutions.
Thomas Kaegi, Co-Head of UBS Asset Management APAC, highlighted the rising demand for tokenized assets and UBS’s commitment to providing advanced solutions through collaboration with industry peers and regulators. UBS Asset Management’s distributed ledger technology strategy includes active partnerships, such as with the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s Project Guardian, and initiatives like the pilot launch of a tokenized Variable Capital Company (VCC) fund in October 2023.
The launch aligns with UBS’s expansion of digital asset services under UBS Tokenize, which facilitates the entire asset lifecycle—from origination to distribution. This includes tokenization projects like a CNH 200 million fully digital structured note and a groundbreaking cross-border digital bond repurchase transaction executed on a public blockchain.
Headquartered in Zurich and operating in over 50 markets, UBS manages $5.7 trillion in assets and continues to lead in digital asset innovation.
