American Express Finalizes Acquisition of Tock
American Express has officially completed its acquisition of Tock, a leading reservation, table, and event management technology provider, previously owned by Squarespace. This acquisition supports American Express’ ongoing efforts to expand its digital tools for restaurants and merchants, enhancing the company’s dining, travel, and entertainment services.
“We’re excited to welcome the Tock team to American Express. This acquisition will strengthen our dining platform by offering more restaurants and experiences through American Express, providing enhanced tools to restaurants and hospitality businesses, and connecting them to our network of premium diners,” said Pablo Rivero, Vice President of American Express Global Dining and CEO of Resy. He added that they are eager to collaborate with Matt Tucker and the Tock team to develop a world-class digital dining platform.
Tock, founded in Chicago in 2014 and acquired by Squarespace in 2021, serves approximately 7,000 restaurants, wineries, hotels, and other venues. Integrating Tock’s products and extensive restaurant network with American Express Global Dining will elevate dining experiences for customers. Matthew Tucker, Head of Tock, will continue leading Tock as part of American Express and will report to Pablo Rivero.
“We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished at Tock and thrilled to join a global leader like American Express,” said Matthew Tucker. “With our innovative products, skilled team, and premium customer base, we’re excited to broaden American Express’ world-class dining offerings.”
As of today, Tock will function as an independent division within American Express Global Dining.
