Shift4 Expands European Reach with Acquisition of Vectron Systems AG
Shift4, a leader in integrated payments and commerce technology, has acquired a majority stake in Vectron Systems AG, a major European supplier of point-of-sale (POS) systems for the restaurant and hospitality sectors. Vectron, based in Germany, operates around 65,000 POS locations across Europe, representing approximately €25 billion in volume potential with minimal current payment monetization. Shift4 plans to acquire further ownership of Vectron through a public tender offer expected to conclude within the next month, followed by de-listing and formal integration.
This acquisition will significantly expand Shift4’s European customer base and distribution network of around 300 POS resellers. Shift4 aims to integrate its payment services with Vectron’s existing products, offering a comprehensive POS and payment solution.
“Shift4 led the convergence of software and payments in the US restaurant and hospitality sectors. We see similar demand for an all-in-one solution in Europe,” said Shift4 CEO Jared Isaacman. “Vectron provides essential local expertise and infrastructure, enabling us to expand our distribution and monetize payments for a substantial existing customer base.”
Additionally, Shift4 has completed its acquisition of Revel Systems, which has over 18,000 merchant locations in the US and internationally, representing a $17 billion+ payment opportunity. Revel’s distribution network will help accelerate SkyTab’s reach.
Shift4 enlisted Perella Weinberg as financial advisor and Gleiss Lutz as legal advisor for the Vectron acquisition, and Chiesa, Shahinian, and Giantomasi as legal advisor for the Revel acquisition.
