Newland NPT Achieves TSYS Certification for Attended Android Terminals, Simplifying ISV Deployments
Newland Payment Technology (NPT), a global provider of high-performance payment terminals, today announced that its payment application, PayExplorer, has successfully completed Level 3 (L3) certification for processing on the TSYS Sierra platform.
The certification applies across Newland’s attended Android payment terminal portfolio and marks a further step in the company’s commitment to supporting Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and payment partners operating across the North American payments ecosystem.
TSYS certification verifies that payment terminals and applications meet the technical and security requirements required to operate on the TSYS processing network.
Securing this certification enables Newland’s PayExplorer platform to manage the payment application and associated compliance requirements on behalf of ISVs. This removes the need for software teams to take on these processes when deploying on supported Newland devices.
ISVs can now simply integrate with Newland’s SDKs and PayExplorer, while Newland takes responsibility for meeting processing and security requirements – allowing them to remain out of PCI scope, reduce onboarding friction, and bring solutions to market faster.
ISVs play a central role in how payments are embedded and deployed across North American retail and food service environments, underlining the value of simpler certification and deployment models. By addressing these requirements at the platform level, Newland helps ISVs and payment partners scale more efficiently while reducing operational and compliance overhead.
As Newland continues to scale its presence across North America, it is focused on delivering secure, modern payment deployments through a cohesive Android terminal portfolio aligned with current PCI standards and Android specifications. The TSYS certification applies across Newland’s attended Android devices, including the N950 series, X800, and N750, which are widely deployed across retail and food service environments.
Heather Hatch, Head of Solutions at Newland NPT, commented: “This certification is a major step forward for Newland in North America. By taking responsibility for payment application certification and security through our platform, we’re removing a significant barrier for ISVs – allowing them to stay out of PCI scope, move faster, and focus on delivering value to their customers.
“It’s a clear signal of our commitment to supporting ISVs long-term, with the scale, portfolio breadth, and technical depth they need to deploy with confidence.”
The certification reflects Newland’s broader approach to supporting ISVs and payment partners by addressing infrastructure-level requirements upfront, rather than pushing certification and compliance responsibilities downstream to software partners.
Newland has an established presence in North America, including a growing team based in Atlanta and recent senior hires dedicated to supporting ISVs, payment partners, and customers across the region. The certification achievement coincides with Newland’s engagement with the North American payments ecosystem at upcoming industry events, including NEAA 2026 in Boston.
