Bir partners with Azerbaijan’s hospitality sector to digitise ordering, payments and tipping
Bir, the Caucasus’s first fully integrated banking, payments and e-commerce ecosystem, has partnered with Azerbaijan’s Public Catering and Gastronomy Association (İİQA) and Clopos, a fast-growing startup that provides digital solutions for restaurant and retail businesses, to accelerate the digitalisation of the country’s hospitality sector.
Under a new Memorandum of Understanding, the three organisations will work together to introduce an integrated digital solution that connects ordering, payment and tipping in a single customer journey. Built on Bir’s infrastructure and powered by Clopos’ technology, the solution enables customers to scan a single QR code at their table to browse the menu, place an order, pay using Bir Pay or other available payment methods, and leave a digital tip.
The partnership significantly expands access to digital tools across Azerbaijan’s hospitality sector, simplifying the ordering and payments process for restaurants and other hospitality businesses, while ensuring a seamless experience for both staff and customers.
Jalal Orujov, CEO of Payments at Bir, commented: “At Bir, everything we do starts with one goal: to make everyday life simpler and more convenient for our customers. We believe the best way to achieve this is by bringing together the right partners, capabilities and services across the market. This partnership is a great example of that approach. By bringing ordering, payments and tipping into one connected digital journey, we are making the experience easier for customers while helping businesses serve them more efficiently. Through partnerships like this, we continue to connect consumers, businesses and services within the Bir ecosystem, making everyday interactions effortless.”
The partnership represents another step in Bir’s strategy to extend its ecosystem beyond individual financial products and connect consumers and businesses across everyday services. As digital payments and commerce increasingly converge, Bir is building infrastructure that allows businesses to serve customers through a more connected digital experience.
Reaching more than 5 million users across its ecosystem, Bir was recently recognised by CNBC and Statista as one of the world’s top fintech companies. It is the first and only company in Azerbaijan and the wider South Caucasus region to receive this accolade, underscoring its scale and leading role in driving Azerbaijan’s ongoing digital transformation.
This latest partnership follows a series of recent milestones for Bir. Earlier this year, the company introduced international money transfers from Azerbaijan to more than 140 countries and territories worldwide through a partnership with Paysend, as well as launched Azerbaijan’s first AI-powered e-wallet assistant within its m10 digital wallet app.
