Akurateco Enables Apple Pay Payments in Chrome, Firefox and Edge for Its PSP and Acquiring Clients

PSPs, acquiring banks and enterprise merchants on Akurateco’s white-label payment platform can now accept Apple Pay beyond Safari, reaching iPhone users whatever browser or computer they shop on.

Akurateco, a white-label payment software provider for PSPs, acquiring banks and enterprise merchants, has rolled out support for Apple Pay in third-party browsers. The capability is now live on its platform, so shoppers can pay with Apple Pay in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and other non-Safari browsers, on a Mac or a Windows PC.

With iOS 18, Apple extended Apple Pay on the web to third-party browsers. Until then, the Apple Pay button appeared only for shoppers using Safari, which left out a large share of desktop traffic: iPhone owners who browse on a Windows laptop, or who simply prefer Chrome on their Mac. Akurateco now supports this flow on its platform, so these customers see Apple Pay at checkout too.

The flow follows Apple’s official standard. At checkout, the shopper selects Apple Pay and a code appears on screen. They scan it with their iPhone camera, confirm the payment on the phone with Face ID, Touch ID or their passcode, and the purchase completes in the browser.

“Every checkout where the wallet button is missing is a point where a customer can drop off,” said Andrew Riabchuk, Founder and CTO of Akurateco. “Now an iPhone user gets the same one-tap Apple Pay experience whatever browser or computer they happen to be on.”

The update adds to Akurateco’s existing digital wallet support, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, available through its platform of 700+ payment connectors.
