Lucanet, a leading global provider of Office of the CFO software solutions, today announced the launch of a market-first Tagger Agent for XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language) reporting for the upcoming reporting season.

The Tagger Agent uses a multi-agent AI architecture to perform narrative tagging, numeric table tagging, extension creation and calculation link base generation in parallel, turning a days-long expert process into an automated, minute or hours long workflow while preserving human oversight for final validation.

Optimized for European reporting mandates, the solution supports multiple languages including English, German, Swedish, Italian, and Spanish, and fully aligns with the latest ESEF (European Single Electronic Format) taxonomy. Designed to streamline compliance processes, it empowers finance teams to complete workflows faster and with greater accuracy and consistency.

Lucanet’s Tagger Agent leverages a multi-agent AI architecture to deliver over 80% accuracy when compared to human-tagged reports. This ensures highly reliable automation while still allowing for human oversight when needed. Unlike solutions that act merely as copilots or demand heavy manual input, the Tagger Agent is purpose-built to fully automate narrative tagging at scale – eliminating repetitive tasks and accelerating reporting without compromising quality.

Janis Steinmann, Head of XBRL at Lucanet:

“As the industry’s first comprehensive narrative tagging agent, the Tagger Agent addresses XBRL’s toughest bottleneck, which is the manual, page-by-page tagging of financial statement notes,”

“By combining deep understanding of financial narrative context with a multi-agent approach, we’re giving finance teams a tool that increases tagging accuracy, reduces repetitive work, and lets experts focus on validation and controls rather than tedious tagging. This is a step change for reporting efficiency and quality”

The launch of the Tagger Agent builds on Lucanet’s GenAI capabilities first released last year, and marks another step forward in Lucanet’s drive to enhance its CFO Solution Platform with intelligence, integrating advanced agentic automation across planning, consolidation and reporting. By embedding AI into the compliance workflow, Lucanet enables CFOs and finance teams to reduce manual work and move toward a fully connected, intelligent reporting ecosystem, delivering speed, accuracy and confidence in every filing.

The ESEF introduced a block tagging mandate for notes to financial statements for fiscal years starting on or after January 2022. The subsequent updates implemented at the start of 2025, included using the latest ESEF taxonomy, even more granular block-tagging, stricter validation rules and updated anchoring requirements, making the enhanced automation process of XBRL reporting even more relevant for finance teams, particularly ahead of reporting season.

XBRL is the global or true digital financial and sustainability reporting, enabling tagging financial and business data in a machine-readable way, enabling automated validation, clearer comparability- and faster regulatory filings.

The Lucanet XBRL Tagger solution streamlines and automates the tagging of financial statements and disclosures, reducing manual effort and errors, ensuring adherence to evolving taxonomies and regulatory requirements, and accelerating the reporting cycle. With intuitive tagging, built-in validation and direct export to XBRL/iXBRL formats, Lucanet helps finance teams produce reliable, audit ready filings faster while improving transparency and comparability for investors, auditors- and regulators.
