Capital on Tap, a leading platform for small business credit cards and spend management, has partnered with GoCardless, a bank payment provider, to offer Variable Recurring Payments (VRPs) via its open banking feature, Instant Bank Pay. This collaboration builds on their longstanding relationship, which began in 2014 when Capital on Tap first adopted GoCardless for Direct Debit.

Through this partnership, Capital on Tap will use GoCardless to process both one-time and recurring payments, offering more flexible payment options for its small business customers. Capital on Tap users will be able to repay their credit cards monthly via Direct Debit, with the added flexibility to make weekly or variable amount repayments through open banking.

Damian Brychcy, CEO of Capital on Tap, commented, “After working with GoCardless for over a decade and collecting more than £2.5bn in Direct Debits while saving over £15m in card fees, it made sense to expand our partnership for open banking payments. This allows us to manage both recurring and ad hoc payments through one trusted provider, enhancing the flexibility of payment options for our customers. VRPs will offer significant benefits, improving payment timing and delivering a better overall experience.”

Pat Phelan, MD UK&I and Chief Customer Officer at GoCardless, added, “We’re thrilled to expand our partnership with Capital on Tap as its open banking payment provider. This showcases the true potential of VRPs to help businesses and individuals better manage and optimize their finances, and we’re proud to support Capital on Tap in rolling out this cutting-edge technology.”
