Trust Payments, a leading fintech innovator across the UK and EU, has launched Virtual Cards for travel businesses, powered by embedded finance provider Weavr, helping eligible travel companies manage supplier payments with greater visibility and control.

Trust Payments already supports travel businesses in accepting payments from their customers. Virtual Cards extend that relationship to the other side of the payment journey, enabling businesses to pay approved travel suppliers using single-use Visa virtual cards in GBP and EUR. The type of card offered will be Visa Commercial Choice Travel (VCCT), a virtual card solution purpose-built for commercial entities to handle automated supplier settlements and secure business travel payments.

Each Virtual Card is linked to an individual booking, connecting booking and payment data so transactions are easier for finance teams to identify, track and reconcile. Businesses fund their account by bank transfer, with spending made from the available balance.

Supplier failure remains a particular risk for the travel sector, but chargebacks can make a real difference: close to US$60 million has been recovered across 14 airline failures since 2017, according to 2025 industry research Protecting Travel Intermediaries. Though recovery isn’t guaranteed, booking data associated with each Virtual Card can help support chargeback claims if a supplier fails to deliver, subject to card scheme rules. Single-use card details cannot be reused, and payments are monitored in real time to help reduce fraud risk.

Eligible supplier payments can also earn rebates paid by Trust Payments, helping travel businesses get more value from outgoing payments alongside faster and simpler reconciliation. Rebate rates vary depending on card and supplier type.

Virtual Cards are available to eligible travel businesses in the UK and EEA, subject to business verification and anti-money laundering checks.

Laurence Booth, Group CEO of Trust Payments said: “Travel businesses have to manage money moving in both directions. We already support our customers in accepting payments from travellers and Virtual Cards mean we can now help them manage supplier payments too. By linking each supplier payment to an individual booking, we can give travel businesses clearer oversight of outgoing spend and reduce the manual work involved in reconciliation. Working with Weavr enables us to extend the payments relationship we already have with travel customers and support more of their payment journey.”

Alex Mifsud, CEO and Co-Founder of Weavr, said: “Merchant acquirers already sit at the heart of the payments relationship with travel businesses. Embedded virtual card issuing gives them an opportunity to complement acquiring with supplier payments without having to build that capability from the ground up. By working with Trust Payments, we can bring these capabilities to travel businesses through a provider they already know, helping them gain greater visibility and control over how they pay suppliers.”
