Unzer, a leading European provider of payment and software solutions, has appointed Isabelle Bénard as Chief Product & AI Officer (CPAIO). The role combines responsibility for the company’s product strategy and artificial intelligence, reflecting the growing importance of AI across Unzer’s products and operations.

Bénard brings more than 15 years of international experience in product leadership. She began her career at Amazon in France and later held senior product and technology roles at Global Fashion Group, SSENSE and Lightspeed, where she led teams through international expansion and multiple acquisitions. Most recently, she served as Chief Product Officer at Mirakl, where she helped shape products at the intersection of commerce and technology, enabling businesses to operate more efficiently and grow at scale.

At Unzer, she will lead product strategy and oversee the company’s AI agenda, ensuring that artificial intelligence becomes an integral part of how products are developed, decisions are made and merchants are served. She will also support Unzer’s ambition to further develop its commerce platform, bringing new capabilities to merchants across Europe.

The appointment comes as Unzer accelerates the use of AI across its platform and operations. AI-supported capabilities are already being used in areas including merchant onboarding, fraud prevention, compliance, customer support and software development. Alongside these initiatives, the company continues to invest in the infrastructure, talent and expertise needed to embed AI more deeply into its products and services.

“At Unzer, AI is no longer an experiment or a side project. It is becoming part of how we build products, make decisions and support merchants every day,” said Robert Bueninck, CEO of Unzer. “What impressed me most about Isabelle is that she is a true product person at heart. She is excited about the possibilities of AI, but not for the sake of AI itself. She starts with the customer problem and works backwards from there. As we continue to invest in product innovation and AI, that mindset will be critical to creating real value for our merchants.”

Bénard joins Unzer as the company continues to expand its unified commerce offering, bringing together payments, software and financial services on a single platform. Today, more than 90,000 merchants across Europe use Unzer’s solutions to manage payments and run their businesses.

“What attracted me to Unzer was the combination of dedicated people, strong foundations and real potential,” said Isabelle Bénard. “The company is at an exciting point in its journey, with a tremendous opportunity to combine product, data and AI to solve real customer problems. I’m looking forward to working with our teams and merchants to help shape the next chapter of growth together.”
