Visa Unveils AI-Powered Future of Commerce in Asia Pacific
Visa has unveiled a bold new vision for the future of commerce in Asia Pacific, introducing a suite of AI-powered innovations and strategic partnerships at its Asia Pacific Media Showcase. The announcement signals the company’s commitment to shaping the next generation of payments through intelligent, secure, and frictionless experiences.
At the heart of the announcement is Visa Intelligent Commerce, a new initiative providing developers with access to Visa’s integrated APIs and tools to power AI-first shopping experiences. Visa is currently exploring collaborations with Ant International, Grab, and Tencent to enhance AI-powered checkouts and transactions.
“By combining Visa’s global network with regional innovation, we’re delivering the trust and security needed for AI-enabled commerce,” said Jack Forestell, Visa’s Chief Product and Strategy Officer. “Consumers will soon rely on AI agents to manage purchases, and Visa is building the infrastructure to support that shift.”
Key product announcements included:
- Visa Flex Credential, which allows users to toggle between debit, credit, and rewards, is expanding in Asia, with a launch in Vietnam expected soon.
- Stablecoin-backed cards in partnership with DCS, DTC Pay, and StraitsX, offering fiat-stablecoin conversion and seven-day-a-week settlement.
- Expansion of the Visa Tokenized Asset Platform (VTAP) to support fiat-backed tokens, programmable finance, and blockchain interoperability.
Visa also introduced Visa Pay, a new service that enables any wallet to connect to any Visa-accepting merchant. Launch partners include LINE Pay (Taiwan), Maya (Philippines), OpenRice (Hong Kong), and Woori Card (South Korea).
In digital identity, Visa is rolling out Passkeys, Tap to Confirm, and enhanced transaction data to boost payment security and authentication rates. New adopters include Coles (Australia) and Maybank (Malaysia).
The company also launched Visa Accept in Vietnam, enabling micro-sellers and freelancers to receive contactless payments directly to their Visa debit cards using NFC-enabled smartphones.
“As commerce evolves, Visa is leading the way with AI, trusted infrastructure, and customer-first innovation,” said T.R. Ramachandran, Head of Products and Solutions, Asia Pacific at Visa.
With over 3.3 trillion transactions processed globally and 4.8 billion credentials in circulation, Visa is positioning itself as a foundational player in the future of AI-driven payments across the Asia Pacific region.
